In 2019, Sonac launched a texturized animal protein called QExtend Beef PF12. This can replace up to 20% of the initial beef meat content without compromising its eating quality.
Here you can see the results of a survey at Anuga which compared the quality of a typical hamburger (the reference product) with one in which 10% of the meat content was replaced with QExtend Beef PF12.
The results were clear: no difference in eating quality (texture, bite, juiciness, overall eating quality) was experienced.
